Vista - Raidmax Sagitta II front fan install

I was going to install a front 120mm fan but I cant figure out how to get it to bolt on. Do I just let it sit there? Can I take the front cover off?

If you need to know more let me know....

Looking at the picture of the case on Newegg, it looks like it bolts right there between the front of the case and the HD cage. You'd have to take the front of the case off and run the screws through the front metal into the fan (make sure the fan is oriented correctly):



The case should have come with instructions, but I think most of those type cases the front is just held on by tabs, not screws. But you don't have to leave the front of the case off, if that's what you mean it should have airflow to the fan.

Many cases have some place in the front of the steel case, not the plastic face plate, for one or more cooling fans.
My own "Pac-Man" case has room for two normal case fans, as seen here.
The mod to the upper face plates made room for a fan to cool my 3rd HD, mounted in the top 5.25" drive bay.


But look at all that metal covering the fan holes. All that metal really cuts down on Air-Flow. SO,


Snip, Snip, with some end cutters and VOILA, big fan holes.
Those two fans are invisible behind the plastic face plate,
but do a great job of supplying cool air to the two HD's that
sit right behind them.

There's another red case fan in the left side panel and a big 5" fan in the back panel to exhaust all the hot air. The case and everything in it, stays nice and cool.

So, do yourself a favor that cut away the grill-work over that big intake fan hole.
Let that fan breath as good as possible.

I found the tabs that hold the front on. And I will propably try and snip off the metal next weekend.

Most cases are made as cheaply as possible and are made from some pretty thin and soft steel. I just used a 4" wire cutter to snip out my own case.


You can see one of my HD's thru the hole that I had just opened up. Right above it is one more HD. Both drives are equipped with a two-fan cooler, but there was no place for the heat to go. Now, with two case fans blowing fresh air on them, the two HD's and the area around them stays nice and cool.
I removed some plastic from the bottom of the face plate, to allow more air intake.
It doesn't show, and leaves the face plate looking completely stock.

I'll probably sell this PC someday, and I don't want it to look like a "Hack-Job".
The 'Red-Eye' in the upper front of the case, can be popped right out and replaced with stock drive bay covers.

The fan grate on the front of your sagitta case looks like a high airflow grate, so removing it probably isn't going to make that much of a difference. The air is running directly into the hard drive cage anyway.

The grate on that pacman case certainly was restricting flow however. I dig the red fan added at the top, does it light up?

But really, just that one extra fan cools the top half of my case.
The two in the lower front, behind the plastic front panel, cool the two hard drives in the lower case, and keep the whole lower part of the case as cool as a cucumber.

Since I paid nothing for the fans, since I got them from defunct PSU's,
The whole job was basically FREE.
All it took was a little of my time.....which, these days, is pretty cheap.

FREE is always good, when you can get it.
The final result looks really good. Almost professional.
When I finally sell this PC, someday, I won't have to worry about it looking like a hack job.



That upper red fan is mounted on removable panels, so I can take it out and replace it with original white plastic faceplates and everything will look 100% stock.

If there's anything I like more than FREE, its something that looks neat.

Was that originally a gateway case? Kind of looks like one, and how did you get the pac man?

I've got all kinds of old parts myself. Fans from defunct machines and what not. Unfortunately most of them are smaller 80mm.

What I'm looking for now are some fans off a PowerMac G5. I'd like to mount them in my Cosmos case underneath the two optical drives I have installed. They're custom delta fans and really move a lot of air, but are super quiet.

I've also seen a scythe fan mount that takes up 3 drive slots and has a black mesh on the front. It's only 20 bucks, I might get that instead.

It's always been just a "Pac-Man" case.
It is extra deep, front to back so leaves plenty of room to work around inside without destroying anything in the process.
I've been building systems in this case for several years, even though they have gone thru some internal mod's., like adding more lower drive bays and a place to put a big 5" fan in the back and a standard case fan in the left side panel.

For the home PC builder, there's nothing like having plenty of SPACE to grow.
I was afraid that when I bought this case, they might become extinct, so I bought a couple of extras. Better safe than sorry!
