CPU-Z acting very weird

Hey guys,

I had CPU-Z on my pc before I reinstalled Vista, so decided to download it again today. Now I must say, I've never seen anything like this on CPU-Z: my CPU clock speed keeps changing: 1004MHz, 1808MHz, 2009MHz, 2210 MHz, 2411MHz... Also the CPU mulitplier, which is supposed to be 12, changes to 5 (So the CPU frequesncy becomes the same as the LDT Bus (HT LINK))... CrystalCPUID shows the normal clock (2,4 GHz), the stock speed, and normal Multi (12)...

Any ideas? I'm going to overclock again after a 2,8 GHz last year, but I'm waiting for my new PSU and better heatsink, coz the stock one's crap, it even overheats (+65°C) on stock frequency when stressed by OCCT...!!

Re: CPU-Z acting very weird

Hi Amplid,

This is perfectly normal. It is indicating that "Cool 'n' Quiet" ('CnQ'), which is the power saving feature of AMD processors, is working correctly. There is nothing to worry about. When more power is required, this feature will automatically increase the processor speed towards the maximum until the extra power is no longer required. At this point, the processor speed will drop. In other words, 'CnQ' senses the system load and adjusts the speed (and thus the power consumption) of the processor accordingly.

Re: CPU-Z acting very weird

I kept this turned off as I had nothing, but trouble with Cool n' Quiet in games.

Though now I have an Intel, so all that is behind me

Yeah, well I'm saving my pocket money for an Intel + mobo + case + ram, but that'll have to wait... Just gonna try and squeeze everything I can out of this one
