    Help! Tuniq Tower+Cosmos S

Hi People, I'm panicking a bit. I just received my Tuniq Tower 120 today and it is enormous- it's 153mm deep.
I have a new Cosmos S case, also enormous, but it has a 200mm cooling fan on the side panel which protrudes a bit into the case.
Looking at it it seems touch and go as to whether it will fit in the case and let me put the side panel on.
To fit it I have to remove the mobo etc so I'm wondering if anyone knows for certain whether it will fit or not.
Also, if it won't fit I'll have to return it so I don't intend even getting it out of the packaging until I can get some solid advice.
    Can anyone help please?
    Best wishes, John

I'm pretty sure it will.. if it can fit this.. it should be able to.

oh and read this. I heard at first it could not. or it can, but will touch the huge 200mm fan on the side. lots of people remove that and add 4 120mm fans instead.. I'd do that personally. they'd work better and push more air as you could get whatever ones you'd want. I'd do that and use the Tuniq. but read this.

look at like the third picture.

see. you could do it, or email them and get a new sidepanel. or replace the huge fan with 4 smaller, better ones.

    Good Luck!

Thanks Gunther. I quite like the idea of 4 fans. Another idea might be to use some kind of dremel router to gouge out the top of the fan housing. I reckon I'd have to lose 10mm on the top of the fan housing and possibly a couple of mm on the top strut. It doesn't look like it would foul the fan but I don't think I'll know til I've got the tower in. If that doesn't work and I've made a mess of the fan it doesn't really matter as it'll have to come out anyway.
4 fans. the mesh on the side has a pressed out design shape on it which would make it difficult to mount fans anywhere but the 4 corners of the aperture. I think light fans could probably be mounted with the one screw available in each corner. I don't know, what do you think?
This sounds like the most likely solution and I think if I got red fans would look real cool. Can't think of any reason it shouldn't work apart from the single mount point.

I also found a Coolermaster component store selling panels for the Cosmos with a perspex window for $65. Great, produce a supposed top end case that wont accept any of the tower type HSFs eg TRUE and then charge for something that is basically a necessary upgrade so you can put one in.
In fact having lived with the case for a couple of weeks I'm seeing quite a few inadequacies. CM make a big deal out how you can wire behind the mobo plate for a tidy interior. I found the side panel wouldn't shut with the wiring running behind it. Also noisy, not that great in terms of cooling despite having enough fans to hover with and not as well made as you'ld hope for the outlay.
Sorry, ranting, pissed off, cheers, John

Hi Gunther, I've discovered a rather elegant solution to my Cosmos S/Tuniq Tower problem.
A guy called epicwolf on (H)ARD forum posted a picture showing how he had cut a new clear panel for the case which mounted the fan a couple of centimetres over toward the front of the case which enabled it to clear the HSF.
This seems a very elegant solution to the problem so I think I'll give it a go.
I have never worked with plexiglass (or perspex as it is called in the UK) but I understand it is brittle and prone to cracking or shattering when drilled or cut. Any tips on the best way to do this would be welcome.
    Best wishes to you, John

    Re: Help! Tuniq Tower+Cosmos S

    Hello,
I fitted my Tuniq tower and OCd my Q6600 to to just over 3 gig (3005Mhz).
I'll have to fabricate a new side panel and move the 200mm fan forward so I can shut the case but that'll have to wait until next week. At the moment I've removed the fan and put the side panel back on.
However my temps still seem a bit high to me. I've been playing music for about 2 hours and running a winamp visualisation and all my cores are at 57.
I can't think the removal of the side fan would have made that much difference, the side of the case is still open apart from the mesh, I've one intake fan at the front and 3 exhaust fans in the top and rear. The room is quite warm as I have the heating on.
I was expecting a dramatic reduction in temps with the Tuniq fitted but these temps are similar to what I was getting before. I used Titan Nano Grease which I'd heard was good.
I haven't tried gaming yet but am I doing something wrong or is this ok?
    Thanks, John
