Hi, I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Core Q6600 processor and want to get more out of it...

I have looked at some videos on YouTube and they use the BIOS to change the settings but my BIOS chipset area have none of these options and not even close to the options on the videos.

Is there a program I can use to overclock this?

Thanks.

Hi robotronik...... welcome to the forum ;)

there are a few apps which allow you to alter the FSB running through your chip, but i don't recommend them AT ALL!! :(

the problem you will have is the lac of voltage adjustment, this will result in a rig that fails to post very quickly..... you would then need to enter your tower & ''manually'' reset the CMOS to defaults via a tiny jumper on the motherboard itself, which on a pre-built unit will be a pig to say the least....

not too mention your RAM either frying or stopping the post, b/c as you raise the FSB your RAM frequency also increases & the likelihood is your components wont like being pushed passed stock speeds, while the Q6600 will revel at being OCed, the rest of your rig is not built for it...

i can link you to the said programs, but be prepared for a ''paper weight tower'' :sarc:

''dont do it''...... if your interested in OCing use the rig you have to research & purchase the components for a dedicated build, & then whip out your Q6600 once youve built it & buy a cheap 775 chip to go back in the old rig..

Okay, in that case I will give overclocking a miss for now.

I just know that the Q6600 could really do good when overclocked but if it is going to damage the rest of the system I won't worry.

Thanks for help :)
