Xtreme Systems Forums member PcCI2iminal scored one with overclocking a Core i7 975 XE D0 stepping chip part the 5 GHz mark, 5015 MHz to be precise using only air cooling for the processor, with an ambient temperature of 20 °C as claimed by the overclocker. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Core i7 975 XE Breaks 5 GHz Barrier, With Air Cooling yes he did that with a simple TRUE cooler. there is another user in XS that has the D0 revision of the 920, and he was able to get to 5.3 Ghz with simple water cooling + some ice, with a Koolance CPU Block and a Koolance pump.. that is impressive as well. |
