How to Replace a Power Supply Fan

I realized as i was over-clocking my CPU and checking my fans that my power supply fan died. Most power supplies now come with 80mm fans in the power supply case. But like all fans they die over time. Mine for Example was a Master Cooler 600W PSU with a 2 year limited warranty. But that Warranty Expired.

First off Remove the screws on the power supply case.

Please notice the warning signs on the PSU. There still is enough power and chemicals inside of it to electrocute you so be careful.

Second take out the old fan. As u can see its the same as a 80mm fan inside most computers. But it only has 2 pins for power one wire is red the other is black. chuck that fan in the garbage or if it works keep it as a spare.

Third Look inside to see if there is dust or corrosion. Mine was full of dust but i cleaned it. as u can see the fan sits right above all of the components.

Forth get a fan that u are not using or a new fan you just bought. You can fit 80mm fans inside the PSU up to 5-90CFM or more but yes it will be loud but efficient. For me i used a old fan that came with my case i didn't feel like destroying my 3 fan turbine that hugs my heat-sink. Also as u can see i Zip tied the wire you don't want slack in the power supply.

Last screw on the fan to the face plate of the PSU then screw the face plate back on to the PSU. And there you have it an power supply fixed or upgraded for further cooling.

Let me know how u like it will add more pictures if needed

PS: sorry about the image size i tried to cut them but didn't work
