Cpu help

Dear all...I am a disabled student. My dell vista home premium is great that i've had since 2008. However, sometimes when i turn on my computer i hear what is similar to either a grinding or choke sound running in few second intervals coming from the cpu. As seconds & a minute or so passes it's quiet. I'm not sure if it could be the fan or the motor. Are there any suggestions from the experts out there? In addition, since most of my work is done on my computer, it seems to run either slow or it's just running fast & loud as if the motor is working...it was not like this last year & i maintain my computer by cleaning the disk drives and defraging it, etc. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you...ccf<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Hello CFLORES00552 and welcome to the forums

That doesn't sound at all healthy! But let's see what we can do to sort it all out for you.

I would suggest holding a vacuum cleaner to the fan vent (perpendicular to the fan) and let it suck all of the crap out for a while. You will be surprised how much will come out, when I did this so much stuff came out, I still don't know how the fan was able to spin before then!

Top right, you will see the fan intake, put it on there and turn it on :) Do this for about 2 minutes, moving it around on that vent.

Let us know how this goes :) Maybe we will have to take your computer apart if this doesn't work, give it a proper clean out

Tom

Actually the top right is the psu fan exhaust.

The middle one is the case exhaust. However it's quite possibly the fan on the cpu. Which is inside the case. Theses 2 are easy to fix.

I've never been any good with hardware. Thanks for clearing that up for me buddy :)
