Program to tell temperature of components?

Hey guys,

Been doing a bunch of computer upgrades, and I want to know the temp at which things are running, especially my new CPU with it's new heatsink - cooler.

What program is recommended to check the temps?

Generally, the cooler the better. Without going through extreme measures it's unlikely you'll ever be able to get your CPU to be too cold. From my experience when I was monitoring my temps, 35 degrees C is a pretty low temp. For most processors, 95 ish degrees C is supposed to be the upper limit of functionality before you start getting problems. If you keep it below 85 C you should be fine, and I'd be really surprised if you ever have any issues running below 75 C. Of course, some processors might be different, but I'd guess those numbers are good for 99% or processors that aren't specifically built for higher temperature operation.

Sorry Slammer, this info will fry his cpu.

This info is only valid on intel 1st gen "i" core cpus.

Dan, your cpu needs to be no hotter than 60C, low 50s for day to day IF you are overclocked.

Stock settings you should run in around 40C

Real temp and coretemp only shows cpu temps, with hwmonitor giving temps on everything.

Thanks. I knew his numbers seemed pretty high, for what I could find on the web.

Apparently Realtemp only works with Intel. -__-

Coretemp seems alright. I just care about temps really.

Am looking at the picture - screen shot on their home site. Core Temp

I notice there's a temp for each core. What core is important? Or do they pretty much run the same temp depending on what you're doing?

21C with stock cooling? I wouldn't believe that unless possibly with water cooling. I use CPU-Z.

That's what It says.............

Cpu Z doesn't show temp?..

I mean, stock cooling, There's a 120mm fan from the PSU blowing in there, there's a 100mm exhaust fan on the back blowing out. Maybe it's true? PSU has it's own fan - heatsink stock.

21C is low, but its chilly in Rhode I right now.

I don't see why it wouldn't be right. It's just sitting idle with 11 Google Chrome tabs open. That's it.
