performance concerns?

What are people's experience with Powershell's impact on remote systems? Any
whitepapers or research noting its performance and potential load when access
remote system information? Any performance gotchas or concerns people have
ran into accessing WMI and/or SQL Server?

thanks.

Re: performance concerns?

I have seen little to know impact at all, but it is completely objective. I
will say that Powershell will have no more effect on a remote machine than
any other scripting/development platform. A WMI query from Powershell is
exactly like a WMI query from VBScript/JScript/C# ... the same goes with
SQL. A SQL query is executed exactly the same.

Re: performance concerns?

I don't have any empirical evidence yet, but yeah I'd agree. I'm creating
some health monitoring scripts to check windows and sql performance, and was
curious about the footprint powershell is leaving.

I believe MOM 2007 is implementing a lot of powershell, so I'd like think
that's a good sign that powershell is lightweight enough for me to implement
powershell for my own monitoring solutions.

Re: performance concerns?

I've done quite a bit of PowerShell against remote SQL boxes and as far as I
can tell it has no additional overhead to running the queries beyond that
genreated by any remote connection
