| | Internet Time Synchronization Incorrect - Showing Standard Time I'm having a problem with Date and Time properties. It is synchronized with time.windows.com, but this morning it is displaying Eastern Standard Time, when our city (and the rest of the country, AFAIK) is still on Daylight Savings Time until Sunday, Nov. 4. The option to "Automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time" is enabled. I tried changing to the time.nist.gov server to synchronize but always get the response "an error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.nist.gov." The government server's website has a long confusing discussion about why this happens, but no actual instructions for dummies about what to do to fix it. I guess they assume that if we can figure out where their website is, we can figure out how to fix our problem. Sadly, no. On their homepage, however, they do show the correct time, i.e., according to Daylight Savings Time. Can someone help me either (a) helpfully point out to the powers-that-be at Microsoft that Daylight Savings Time will continue for another week? or (b) figure out which buttons to push to magically make the government's server synchronize the time for my computer? or (c) apply a different solution? Many thanks. |

| | Re: Internet Time Synchronization Incorrect - Showing Standard Tim Thanks so much for finding those links for me. I'll have a look at them, but frankly, at first glance, the first one already looks a bit too technical for me. If it turns out to be too complicated, though, I'm just going to turn to my computer mfr's tech support line. They'll probably think I'm an idiot, but at least I'm not as bad as the legendary user who used her CD tray as a coffe cup holder, LOL. Thanks anyway. Maybe the blog entry at technet will be easier to understand.
