the update does not apply to your system

Hi,

I'm running vista business and was trying to install powershell but i keep
getting the error "the update does not apply to your system"

i have been looking around on the internet and this seems to be related to
the version of vista i'm running of but i can't seem to solve it.

I have downloaded the RTP version of powershell for vista 32bit

my vista buildis: 6000.16386.x86fre.vista_rtm.061101-2205

does anyone know where i could downloade the powershell version i need or
how to solve this issue?

thanks,

Tom

RE: the update does not apply to your system

I'm running 32bit PowerShell on 32bit Windows Vista Business edition. I
downloaded and installed it without any difficulty. Which version of
PowerShell did you download & obvious question do you have .NET v2.0
installed?

RE: the update does not apply to your system

Hi Richard,

I used the x86 download link on this page
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv.../download.mspx

I just double checked and yes .net 2.0 is already installed on my system.

Have you already installed PowerShell - I got this message on a system
where I had already installed it! Start/run/powershell will quickly tell
you.

It might also be the wrong CPU issue - are you running X64 vs I386
version of the OS?

Re: the update does not apply to your system

loooooool,

ok, somebody should come to my office and slap me on the head.
Powershell was already on the system and i didn't realise or see.

any case, thanks a bundle for pointing this out to me.

I did the same thing my self a few months back. Spent hours trying to
figure it out then tried running PowerShell.

Glad it all works!
