Vista - 2008 Winter Scripting Games Begin Friday, February 15, 2008

Hey, guys. Just wanted to remind everyone that the 2008 Winter Scripting
Games begin on Friday, February 15th. This year we've got some things of
special interest to PowerShell scripters, including some absolutely DYNAMITE
prizes: copies of PrimalScript Editor; a fully-licensed copy of SpecOps
Command; copies of PowerShell Analyzer and PowerShell Plus; assorted books;
and all make and manner of other goodies (like Dr. Scripto bobblehead dolls
and 50 copies of Windows Vista Ultimate). In addition, 10 members of the
PowerShell community -- including the legendary Marco Shaw (hi Marco!) --
have agreed to write solutions for each event in the Advanced Division. That
means you'll have the unique opportunity to compare your solution to a
problem to, say, Marco Shaw's solution to a problem. If you're an experienced
scripter the Games are a good way to test yourself against scripters from all
over the world; if you're new to scripting the Games are a fun -- and
non-threatening -- introduction to the wonderful world of PowerShell. (And/or
VBScript and Perl.) Anyway, swing by the Script Center

and have a look. Just to let you know, last year 75% of the people who took
part in the Games entered the VBScript division. Surely you PowerShell
aficionados aren't going to let that happen THIS year! Thanks, guys.

Seriously, everyone should join. This is all for fun, and whether you
play in the beginner or advanced division, there's nothing to be ashamed
about. I read the beginner ones, and they're good challenges.

2 years ago, I did the advanced VBScript challenge. I used to be a sys
admin, and scripted only when I needed to.

Last year, I entered the advanced PowerShell challenge, and had only
been playing with PowerShell for about 3 or 4 months. It was a blast...

I did Chris, and found their spec too easy for the 'Advanced' category. That is why I posted this way which I think is a bit harder. ;-)
