PS on WinCE?

Just wondering if there are (or ever will be) plans for a Powershell
environment for PocketPC/Windows Mobile?

I did find PythonCE and PyCeIDE on SourceForge - that gives a pretty
good IDE with syntax highlighting and class browsing - quite a good
way to knock up some software (assuming you spend hours commuting each
day away from your desktop) and don't mind learning Python.

But that got me thinking, if it can be done for Python - why not
Powershell? Maybe Powershell is bigger/harder to implement, or
Python's just been around a lot longer?

Regards,

Duncan

RE: PS on WinCE?

Suspect it is more a matter of getting the necessary parts of .NET onto that
platform

Understood. I was perhaps (naively) assuming that since the compact
framework is ubiquitous on the platform then there'd be some scope for
aan environment based on that...

I think it's a pretty neat idea, but not one that Microsoft has indicated they
are working on. Maybe some third-party company will take it up. As you noted,
there are a few other options out there for on-device Windows Mobile
development, but none of them as cool as PowerShell.

Indeed. I thought as a language the best thing (maybe) for wide-
spread adoption would be to submit it as an Ecma Standard (as with the
CLI and CPP/CLI). It would certainly welcome to look through the
source code from time to time and make use of PS on more platforms
(like Mono). Of course this may differ from MS strategy which is fair
enough, but it's in line with what happened to .NET...
