Using Set-ACL to give "Everyone" Full control on folder

Hi,

How do you use Set-ACL to give the "Everyone" group full permissions to a
certain folder. I see it is possible for a specific username, but i can't
seem to do it for a group.

thanks,
Jason

You can likely create an object for it by hand for the Everyone group,
and I'll try it tomorrow.

I typically "cheat" with ACLs, and just copy them either from an
existing file/folder, or use the GUI to create the required ACL, then
copy the ACL from that.

i didnt think of that...although i'm not sure that would work because i'm not
working on the domain level. this will be local.

RE: Using Set-ACL to give "Everyone" Full control on folder

I'm not sure whether this goes against the Powershell philosophy or is at the
heart of its philosophy.

Bypass Set-ACL altogether. While you can do this by using the
FileSystemAccessRule, DirectorySecurity and 20 lines of code. Its far easier
to fall back on a NT tool thats been around forever

cacls . /e /g everyone:r

or

cacls . /e /g bob:r

cacls <folder> /e /g <domain>\user:r

Will do what you want "one line at a time"

RE: Using Set-ACL to give "Everyone" Full control on folder

I am currently using cacls/icacls but i thought there was a more appropriate
way of doing so. I might as well just stick with it.
