| | Mouse malfunction in PowerShell on Server 2008 Hi A frustrating problem. I cannot cut and paste in the PS window. Leftclicking results in "Select Windows PowerShell" in the top bar after the PS icon Rightclicking results in "Windows PowerShell" in the top bar after the PS icon. What is setting the mouse to behave like this? Using My XP and Powershell, the mouse behaves like it should with cut and paste. I installed PS as a feature in Server 2008. Yours truly, |

Come to think of it, that isn't default on XP. The way QuickEdit mode works is: left-click and drag. When you lift the mouse button, an area has been selected. Right-click, and now that area is on the clipboard. Right-clicking one more time will paste whatever is on the clipboard. |

What is in your ClipBoard then? Right-click is PS's quirky menuless Paste. When I'm not thinking I can end up pasting in the entirety of my last post, which of course isn't parsed well by PS. ; ) FWIW I would prefer a right-click menu the same as cmd.exe. Although I suppose once you got used to PS's quirks being able to drag-select without using the Mark command might be seen as an improvement. I think you may have to improve your symptom description. Now it sounds as if you might not even be able to do a drag-select in some particular environment? Thanks for the tip! <title>Command Prompt QuickEdit Mode Is Disabled by Default in Windows XP</title> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282301 (Live Search for quickedit cmd ) Options tab: Insert mode versus QuickEdit mode So, is the reverse available in PowerShell's Options tab?... Yes. Too easy! ; ) Something I haven't figured out yet though: I'm given the option to change my shortcut but nothing obvious happened (to the .lnk file as seen by its Properties display). (TBD <w>) Thanks again. Robert --- |
