Power Shell?

I installed Windows Power Shell thinking of it as a rich, easy of use, shell.
I found it buggy, hard to use and really poor. I can't even run my usually
batch files on it! I will stick with the combination Bash/Cygwin. Much
powerful.

Generally people post to this list wanting help, so I'm going to
assume you do too, and it only SOUNDS like you're trying to start a
flamewar.

You haven't given us much to go on here, but I would ask you to take
another look. There's a lot to like.

You state that you find it buggy, hard to use, and really poor. This
could really use some more detail. Judging by your next statement,
that batch files don't run on it, I'd say that you might benefit from
taking a step back and taking a fresh look without assuming complete
cross-compatibility with cmd and bash.

It's true, batch files don't run in PowerShell. This feature, as they
say, is by design. It is trivial to convert any batch files and even
easier to launch them with cmd.exe like so: cmd /c myfile.bat

If you're really interested in learning what it is that sets
PowerShell apart and making an informed decision as to what role it
will play in your own scripting/shell usage in the future, feel free
to bring your issues to the group. I'm sure they would be useful to
other people thinking about picking up PowerShell as well.
