Directory creation with a today's date First, I'm not a n00b, but I'm no expert either, so details are appreciated. That said, here are the details. First, Windows 2000, then Windows XP I had a reg entry at [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\New Subfolder YYYYMMDD\command]
@="cmd.exe /c FOR /F "tokens=1-3 delims=/ " %%I IN ('DATE /t') DO md %%K%%I%%J" I remember having to modify the entry for XP when I upgraded to XP for the DATE /t being in a different format on the new machine. Now, I'm trying to get this to work on a Vista Home Premium x64 flavor of Windows, and can't seem to get it to work. The command window is so quick, I can't see the error message, and I don't know how to get the command window to stay open. I can open a command window, and change the above command to read
cmd.exe /c for /F "tokens=1-4 delims=/ " %I in ('DATE /t') DO md %L%J%K this will actually create a subdirectory for me, but I'm unable to get this to work in windows explorer when I right click an existing directory. Any help, greatly appreciated, as I use this several times a day, and sometimes, serveral times an hour. |
