OK, is it just me having problems getting in for the webcast? I think I was
sent an email, perhaps with a link to join but deleted it.
How can I join it now? The registration web site seems to be having load
problems.

From the webcast:
Frage: I had trouble getting into this webcast and was just now able to
join. Will these be available for download?
Antwort: Yes, check www.microsoft.com/webcasts. Replay should be posted in
the next 24 hours.

I've only seen about the last third of it, but I downloaded the slides and
had a quick look at what I had missed.
In this first webcast they covered mostly the basic concepts, common
questions etc. and also showed a lot of code snippets to get everybody
started. I think it was a very good introduction to PowerShell, but nothing
new for those who use to hang out on this newsgroup.
The webcasts at the end of the week will probably be more interesting for
the advanced PowerShellers out there. ;-)

Thanks man!
Just checked http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scr...bcasts/ps.mspx
Even Monday webcast isn’t available yet! :-(
OK
Hi all!
I thought I'd get my first intro to powershell yesterday but nope... Now I'm
just waiting for the on demand version to pop up. Anyone got any idea om how
long it usually takes? I'd like to see it before the one tonight (8.30 pm my
timezone).
Btw, do you guys see powershell as a replacement of vbs or not? From the
little I've seen so far it seems more like a replacement of bat... Is that
so?
Thanks!!
/Sofia

Yes, no, and maybe.
Can you give some context to your question - the kind of situations you're
thinking of? I have a long answer which I'll post, but it comes down to
yes/no/maybe, just in detail.
Sofia,
I don't think I would say powershell is a replacement for anything directly,
but more a replacement for everything. Don't get me wrong... it has some
shortcomings but that does seem to be the intended goal. It has script
functionality of VBscript but with full .NET support. It has easy of use and
easy access to system resources like batch files. What is so great about it
though, is the interactive shell. Imagine being able to work with vbscript
interactively. You can create variables, COM objects, .NET classes all
without writing a single script. You can just use them and forget them. It
reduces the need for one off scripts. Its a change... there is no doubt
about that, but its easy to pick up (at least from a starter point of few.)
