I was more than a little surprised when I uninstalled RC2 on one
Windows XP machine just now.



It said that a raft of Security Updates for Windows XP, Firefox 2.0
and MSXML 6.0 might not run properly if I unnstalled PowerShell RC2.
(I took a screenshot if anybody in MS wants to see it)

It doesn't inspire confidence if PowerShell uninstall hints that
Windows Security Updates may not work if RC2 is uninstalled.

Thoughts?

BTW it also insisted that I needed to restart Windows ... ... which
was unexpected and unwelcome. I don't recall that happening on
previous PowerShell uninstalls.

I guess this is because RC2 is treated as a windows update. To me it
seems it's something like a default warning when uninstalling an update.

I agree with you. Fortunateley I only had to machines with RC2 installed
on it and on both machines deinstallation worked fine.

Hi Andrew,

Windows PowerSehll is an optional windows component. Once installed it is
considered as a windows component. Windows installer (based on update
technology) do not support out of order uninstallations ie., Install Update
A + Install Update B + Uninstall Update A. In this scenario, uninstalling
update A reports that Update B might fail to work. Unfortunately this is by
design for update based install technology.
