| Guest | Access to Remote Servers Possible? I just can't figure out how to access remote servers with PowerShell... what I'd like to do is the following: 1. stop/start web sites on remote servers 2. check the certificate stores on remote servers 3. Navigate an INI file as if each heading is another folder and each property were a file... Any ideas on how I might go about this? I'm running PowerShell v1.0 on WinXP SP2 and trying to get information from Windows Server 2003 servers with no PowerShell on them... Thanks! |

| Guest | RE: Access to Remote Servers Possible? At the moment its not possible. If you can perform the task by WMI you are OK but can't run scripts or cmdlets against remote servers. A comment was made at IT Forum in November 2006 to say this feature would be in a future version -- Richard Siddaway Please note that all scripts are supplied "as is" and with no warranty "Matt" wrote: > I just can't figure out how to access remote servers with PowerShell... what > I'd like to do is the following: > > 1. stop/start web sites on remote servers > 2. check the certificate stores on remote servers > 3. | Guest | RE: Access to Remote Servers Possible? I don't want to sound too sarcastic.... but I thought PowerShell was supposed to be the Adminstrators best tool. How many Administrators out there only manage their local machine? I suppose the only solution is to install PowerShell on the clients, create scripts, then do remote CMD calls to fire them off... Well, thanks anyway! | Guest | Re: Access to Remote Servers Possible? At first glance... you are correct, but you have a lot of power with the ..NET accessibility. Everything you ask for can be done in powershell and remote'ed... its just not built in. From what Dev tells us... remoting is the key goal of posh 2.0. I use powershell to manage well over 400 servers... and I only have it installed on 4 machines (for redundancy and authentication) -- Brandon Shell --------------- Stop by my blog some time ![]() http://mybsinfo.blogspot.com/ ---------------------------------- "Matt" <Matt@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6E5DBE3C-F91F-4ED5-B132-36428916FB78@microsoft.com... >I don't want to sound too sarcastic.... but I thought PowerShell was >supposed > to be the Adminstrators best tool.
