General question

Why is there a of Power shell build for each platform? Isn't based on .NET
2.0 so it could install anywhere the .NET 2.0 framework is installed?

Re: General question

Take two.... Why is there a build of Powershell for each platform? Isn't
Powershell based on .NET 2.0 so it could install anywhere the .NET 2.0
framework is installed?

Re: General question

PowerShell doesn't just interact with .net it also has to work with the OS
and as there are difefrenecs between the various versions of windows you need
flavours of PowerShell to accomodate this e.g. the installer technology on XP
is different to that on Vista

Re: General question

Actually, it's entirely an installer thing. We ship the same bits for all
operating systems, but as you point out -- different operating systems have
different requirements for the installer.

Re: General question

Right, we need the OS to treat as as a Windows Component hence we must
conform to the OS specific installation technologies.
