Is there a way to get Format-Wide to sort by column?

Is there a way to get Format-Wide to sort items in columns, rather than
rows, i.e. to behave in the way that "dir /d", rather than "dir /w", does in
CMD?

Have you already tried this

dir | Format-Wide -Column 3

Thanks

Re: Is there a way to get Format-Wide to sort by column?

Hi, I have tried "-column" and "-autosize", but these only change the number
of columns. The items are still sorted in rows, e.g.

a b c
d e f
g h i

instead of

a d g
b e h
c f i

For me, the second style is much easier to read, becuase the gaps are
between groups, rather than between individual items.
