Windows PowerShell 1.0 will not insta;; on WinXP SP2

I have WinXP SP2 with all latest patches and Powershell 1.0 will not install.
Says I must uninstall previous versions. But no prvious versions show up in
Registry keys or Add/Remove programs. How do I get it to install? What is the
problem?

Thanks for Help.

Do you have .NET framework v2 installed?

In add\remove programs make sure that the show updates box is checked.
Later versions of Powershell install as windows updates. Scroll down to the
list of updats & check if theres a version of PowerShell showing

RE: Windows PowerShell 1.0 will not insta;; on WinXP SP2

In the Add/Remove Software I do have the Show Updates checked and still no
mention of PowerShell. No entries in Registry, no directory under
Windows/System32, nothing. CCleaner Uninstall does not mention PowerShell
either. What is PowerShell 1.0 looking for? Why does it say to remove
something that is not present? Why isn't the install smart enough to remove
any previous version itself? How fo I install Powershell 1.0?

RE: Windows PowerShell 1.0 will not insta;; on WinXP SP2

Have you checked C:\program files to see if there is any mention of PowerShell.

Did you have a very early version installed when it was called Monad?

There is no mention of PowerShell under C:/Program Files.
I have never installed Monad, and there is no mention of it in the
usual places either.

What is PowerShell 1.0 looking for?
Why does it ask to uninstall something that is not present?
Why doesn't PowerShell indicate somewhere what it has found that must
be removed?
How do I instal PowerShell 1.0?
