Powershell use of SNMP WMI Provider

WMI supports an SNMP provider. Based on what I have read it seems that if I
correctly setup the WMI SNMP provider on a box on which I have PS installed
I should be able to access SNMP enabled devices on the network via PS.

Could anyone confirm if this is correct?

Has anyone come across step by step procedures on how to set this up?

Re: Powershell use of SNMP WMI Provider

I have the MSDN link. I have been trying to follow the instructions but I
get stuck at the point of compiling the MOF files from the MIBs. I am
trying not to tie my solution to a third party tool.

I had tried to get the same thing to work a couple of years ago with
VBScript and I couldn't get it to work. At that time I couldn't find anyone
who had been able to get it to work. Everyone was using some third party
tool (like ActiveSocket, which I eventually bought).

I am wondering if anyone has ever gotten this SNMP WMI provider setup to
work.
