Status of PowerShell v.2.0 ???

What's the status of the next version of PowerShell? Anybody know?

What's the target release quarter, Q1'2008?
Will a full set of Active Directory cmdlets be built in?
Will telnet-like remote shell support be included?

What other important changes are planned/rumored?

RE: Status of PowerShell v.2.0 ???

The most recent statement I have seen regarding next version of PowerShell is
here
http://blogs.msdn.com/powershell/arc...-magazine.aspx

saying that there probably will be a public technology preview by the end of
the year.

Remoting of some kind has been talked about but there have been no
definitive statements that I've seen as to actual changes\new features in the
next version.

If you want to use some good cmdlets for AD then download the Quest AD
cmdlets from http://www.quest.com/activeroles-server/arms.aspx. The cmdlets
are still beta with a new release every few weeks as new functionality is
added. Good time to try them especially as it looks like they have just
issued a new version.

There's a recent blog entry by Mr. Snover on the PowerShell team blog
advertising a Channel 9 interview with Scott Hanselman. A couple of
good hints dropped here - like the remoting capabilities developed by
Hanselman's company (Corillian) should be "Rock Simple" in V2. There's
also been a bit of a broad hint about the use of console in another
blog entry:-)

As for public availability, during the Hanselman interview Snover
mentions a possible release at the PDC (no dates for this yet
though...)

Just my (probably optimistic) interpretations!

Chris
