Installation

I have successfully installed Powershell before.

But I am trying to run the DPM Beta 2 and it is complaining about Powershell
not being installed.

However when I download the Powershell installation exe and then try to run
it, I get an Untrusted Publisher error.

Can anyone help

So this is actually from the PSH installation file itself? When did you
install PowerShell previously, roughly one year ago? You could possibly
have one of the older betas.

Have you tried to uninstall PowerShell first?

I've seen that error when people are trying to run scripts though. If
you can open PowerShell, run get-executionpolicy.

Re: Installation

Marco,

This happens when I try to run the following Powershell installation file
from the Dowload page

WindowsServer2003-KB926139-x86-ENU.exe

When I double click on the file I get an untrusted publisher dialog. Which
if I then press run the unpackage fails with a "file is corrupt" error.

I did have Powershell installed but the DPM prereqs say that it is not an
acceptable version hence I de-installed it and I am trying to reinstall

I have downloaded the file a number of times but I get this same error
everytime.

Re: Installation

Hi Chris,

Can you try downloading the file on another machine that you have access to?
Have you checked the file size after the download and compared it with the
file size according to the KB article (I believe it is in there but I'm not
looking at it right now)?

Re: Installation

Hi Kirk,

The file is OK because it will run on an other server that I have. But
gives me this untrusted publisher error on the one that I've built for
testing DPM.

I had thought of this originally:
http://blogs.msdn.com/powershell/arc...2-upgrade.aspx

I wasn't sure what error might popup though if something went wrong
along those lines.

Re: Installation

Marco,

I have deinstalled SP2 and rebooted the computer. The only installed
program showing is . NET framework 2.0

I have tried to run the Powershell installation program but all I get is the
same untrusted publisher error.

What do you suggest next.?

Re: Installation

Are you in Domain mode? Do you have any GPOs configured with "Software Restricion
Policies" defined?

Re: Installation

The server is in a test domain with the default domain polcy applied.

I have checked and there aren't any domain (computer or user) or local
software restriction policies in force.

My feeling is that this is a certificate issue.

When I downloaded the exe to install Powershell (KB926139) I also downloaded
the MUI pack (KB926141). When I run the MUI it says the Publisher is
Microsoft Corporation, but when I run the Powershell installer it says it is
an untrusted publisher and fails with a file corruption when it unpacks.

OK, I always associated this with scripts, but try right-clicking on the
downloaded .exe, then going to properites. You may see an "unblock" button.
