    Sharepont SBS--Meeting Workspace Setup

Hi everyone! We have been using SBS 2003 std for 2 years, and especially
like the Share Point services. However, I am having a problem with Meeting
Workspace for use with Microsoft Outlook. When I try to create a Meeting
Workspace, I enter the URL to the server and after a time-out it says
something to the effect of cannot locate the server or server problem.

Are there any special steps I need to take to enable Meeting Workspace
functionality on my server? Thanks for any advice.

    do these this help?

What kind of error are you getting when trying to connect?

Is the URL for the internal site or an external url?

    Cris:

Here are the steps I am doing:

In Outlook 2003, go to Plan a Meeting-->Invite Attendees and then click on
    "Make Meeting".

Click on Meeting Workplace and then on Create a Workspace. Click on Select a
Location and then Other (this is the only choice I have). A Other Workspace
Server windows opens. I type in the URL we use for accessing our internal
    SharePoint company Home page.

It stays on loading for awhile and then brings-up the error message
    previously described.

Is there a certain URL I need to use? Is there configuration on my
Sharepoint server I need to do?

I think you'll probably have to do some research Meeting Workspace and Sharepoint and setting up a sub site on Companyweb

    The home page won't work.

    Cris:

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did figure that out. I have gone SharePoint
Administration and created a Workspace subsite and can access it by going to
//sharepointwebsite/workspace using a browser. However when I do I am
prompted for a username/password. I am wondering if this is a rights issue
    or login issue with Outlook.

I have tried both Outlook 2003 and 2007 and get the same result.

I am going to do further research but if any ideas please advise. If I read
the instructions correctly, all a user should have to do is type in
<servername> <new workspace name> in the appropriate place in Outlook and it
should allow him to create a Meeting Workspace.

My login has administrative rights to Sharepoint so that can't be the problem.

When entering credentials, are you entering DOMAIN\username for the
username, or just username? In IE, have you added the URL for the top-level
SharePoint site to your Local Intranet security zone? This will allow
Windows to automatically pass your Windows credentials to the website to
    authenticate.

    Chad:

I am not getting prompted for any credentials when I am trying to create a
workspace in Outlook. If I create a workspace using Sharepoint Admin, and I
then try to access the workspace site, I am prompted for credentials. Should
I be getting prompted for credentials when setting-up the workspace in
Outlook? If I should, is there a reason why I am not getting prompted?

The top-level Sharepoint website is already entered in IE as a Local
Intranet Security URL. This was necessary for us to access the internal
    company home page in Sharepoint.
