    Ian,

With SBS, you are better off using RWW (Remote Web Workplace). This way
users will connect directly to their desktops. I'm not sure why you are
    using RDP with SBS.

Also, there is a specific newsgroup for SBS questions. I've cross-posted it
for your convenience. Just check back here for responses.

    Hi Ace,

My issue is with win2k3 r3 - I think. We VPN into the SBS domain - then TS
to the win2k3 machine. That where Ihave no luck mapping the ports / drives.
Interestingly the VMware machines on this 22ks box all map printeres and
ports just fine. The reason this issue came up is someone said I shoul dbe
using the terminal server for better speed and eas of admin (this appears to
b e true) BUT these ports are not mapping? Where do I start - my volunteers
    can't print? Thanks Ian

It sounds like you're using Remote Web Workplace from SBS into an internal
Windows 2003 machine? Of course Terminal Services must be installed on the
Windows 2003 machine to get to it. I'm just trying to get the terminology
    straight.

And as Anthony asked, what printers are you talking about? The ones already
installed on the Windows 2003 server or the client's local printers at the
remote location, as well as what do you mean by "ports?"

    And you're talking about R2. I don't think there's an R3 planned for
    release.

Re: win2k3 Ports not mapped in TS session

Sorry - I just got back. The local printer is not mapping.

Either are the drives or the TS ports on the xp client when using RDP.

To be as clear as I can:
XP SP3 on remote client - connects to SBS domain via VPN.
Then we RDP to the Win2k3 R2 server box.
I expect to see my local printer + drives I have checked (in the RDP dialog)
show up in the TS session so I can print locally to my printer.
This is not happening when RDP's to the win2k3 R2 machine.
However - the same XP Pro SP3 client can connect to other machines on the
metwork and the printer is mapped just fine (possibly suggesting the win2k3
    R2 as the culprit)
And to make it even more interetsing - I have VMware on the same Win2k3 R2
box and if I RDP to any of the virtual machines on - the printer and drives
    map just fine.

Now for 5 points can anyone tell me how to fix this?

    Thanks

ON this same XP ox if that I connect to our SBS

Re: win2k3 Ports not mapped in TS session

    Thanks for your reply -

I am not using RWW. I just vpn to the SBS box then use RDP to the WIn2k3 R2
box. Termianl services is installed on this box.

The driver is installed on teh win2k3r2 box and obviously the local XP pro
sp3 machine.... so why does the printer not map and the TS ports not map and
    the drives not map...

    Is this a security setting?

    Cheers
    Ian
