Is the drive going to sleep? Some will power down - that's a good thing, so
long as they wake up!.
Other than that, perhaps a power setting on the server, either OS or bios,
that is in 'energy saving' mode and won't wake up?
I have a T300, with 2 external USB disks connected; neither is going
off-line, but then neither is a Buffalo.
