I got a call from a client today. The owner of the company was
“updating” and “cleaning up” the companyweb.
Of course this is a customer who relies heavily on companyweb to
manage ALL of their documents.
It turns out he deleted a a few folders of CRITICAL information as
well as updated many other folders which now would be very hard to
recreate.
After reading how hard it is to recover deleted files I thought this
might be possible
So this is what I am thinking..
Should I take a spare server I have and use the complete backup of the
client's server to recreate the databases to a state prior to the
disaster and then copy the documents (about 50) to a CD and let him
rebuild them into companyweb.
If that is possible I see the following issue….
My test server’s hardware is different then the client’s server so a
complete restore will cause HAL and driver problems,
Can I do a selective restore? If so what should I restore?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Kevin
