    Setting up SBS 2008

We have a SBS 2000 working for almost 8 years now, we just set up a new
SBS 2008 server, and are trying to hook it up to the network,
I am able to add the users to the sbs 2008 network using the connect
program, but they are not listed as online, the status says "No DNS
entry for this computer is available"
When I try to set up VPN I get a message saying DHCP has to be manually
    configured,
What I understand is the sbs 2000 is not letting 2008 be the domain
controller, how do I go about setting up the server.
We want to take off the sbs 2000 server and have sbs 2008 as the domain
controller, we also want to be able to set up VPN and RWW.

    Best Regards
    Sneha Dulur

AFAIK you can't migrate from SBS2000 to SBS2008, so you will either need to
go to SBS2003 in the interim or do a clean install of SBS2008 as a brand new
AD domain (don't name it the same if you're going to have both these servers
on the LAN simultaneously) and manually move data, recreate users,
    disjoin/rejoin the domain.

You'll need the SBS2008 box to be the DHCP server on your network when
you're actually doing your 'cutover'. You can reinstall or reconfigurer DHCP
after you stop the other DHCP server (the SBS2k box).

    LW,
I thought the same as you that SBS 2000 to SBS 2008 migration did not exist
and was not possible. But check this out..........

Wow - I have to say that looks easier than the 2003 to 2008 migration...

I didn't read all the details, maybe the profiles have to be migrated
manually or something, but it is certainly a far shorter document than the
    2003 to 2008 migration doc.

I can attest to that Bill as I myself just recently did a 03 to 08
    migration.

Ah yes, I forgot about that. As I recall it recommends doing exmerge. Not a
big deal if you're a small shop, but ...
