Sharepoint Permissions Shot on SBS 2008

Hey everyone, I have some serious Sharepoint 3.0 Issues.

For starters, after the upgrade to Sharepoint 3.0, the Windows Search Server
went down, along with all site access. I spent hours bringing every site
back online, but I have no access whatsoever to the Sharepoint Admin. I get
"Error: Access Denied" for every single user account.

I have read hundreds of articles online for fixing this issue and they all
say to login as another user and delete and re-add the broken user account.
What do you do when all user accounts are broken?

Also, when going to the Sharepoint admin panel, it will take me to
    http://serverort/_admin/SearchServerWizard.aspx before bouncing to the
access denied page. I have been pulling my hair out for over a week now and
have yet to figure any of it out.

So far I have tried completely uninstalling Search Server and Sharepoint,
following up with a fresh install of Sharepoint 3.0. Unfortunately, even
after complete uninstalls and a server restart, I keep getting sent to the
SearchServerWizard.aspx file which crashes! So, I reinstalled Search Server
and finally get the Access Denied message.

The main admin account I use, as well as all user accounts that are in the
Domain Admins user group have Sharepoint Admin access in Active Directory.
I am running Windows SBS 2008 with SP2 installed.
I am running Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0
I also have Windows Search Server Express installed.

Any help in regaining access to my Sharepoint install is greatly
    appreciated!

    ~Mitch

Search server express can totally blow up Sharepoint as you have found
out yourself and should not be installed on the same box as SBS.

How good of a backup do you have?

Unfortunately, my backup does not extend beyond a few weeks, so Search
Server is included in the backups. I have recently regained the front ends
of the sharepoint sites that do not require authentication, such as
"companyweb" and "sites". Outlook Web Access now works as well. That was all
a matter of spending days pouring over KB articles and using the SBS BPA to
help alleviate issues. Currently, the BPA is reporting 0 issues! And it
only took a week to fix them. :P

Anyway, that last line is particularly scary. Backups are one thing this
company doesn't care too much about. Heck, the system uses the standard SBS
backup and backs up to an internal hard drive. There is 1 offsite backup
that is held by the owner's wife, but she refuses to bring the dang thing
back in so I can put a new backup on it!

    Thanks!
