Companyweb link dead in Sharepoint Administrator

I noticed the other day that a link to administer companyweb in Sharepoint
Administrator (not Sharepoint Central Administration) was dead. It yielded a
404 error. The link to administer companyweb in Sharepoint Central
    Administration works fine.

I found another older post regarding this issue which I believe indicated
this was normal because companyweb now uses Sharepoint, not Frontpage Server
Extensions (I guess Sharepoint Administrator is really Frontpage Server
    Administrator?)

Is this link to Companyweb in Sharepoint Administrator a vestige from an
earlier SBS2k3 build or from before a service pack / update? It seems odd
that it would still exist in SBS2k3 R2 if it never worked.

Also, is there any way to fix or delete the companyweb link in Sharepoint
Administrator? It certainly would be easy enough to forget if it's not an
    easy fix.

    Thanks,

    Joe Welna

RE: Companyweb link dead in Sharepoint Administrator

    Hello Joe,

    Thanks for your post.

Yes, it is normal behavior. If you right click on the Companyweb link and see its properties, you will see the address(URL) is:
http://companyweb/_vti_bin/_vit_adm/...e=webadmin.htm . However, under the companyweb\_vti_bin\_vit_adm folder, there is NO such a fpadmdll.dll but
    only an "ADMIN.DLL".

You may check Companyweb physical files path at: "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\isapi\_vti_adm"

ISAPI\_VTI_ADM Contains FrontPage 11 (Beta) legacy binary files. ADMIN.dll Binary file used for administration from FrontPage 2003 (Beta)

You may also find the SharePoint Central Administration link redirect to: http://sbsservername:8081/_vti_bin/_...e=webadmin.htm and the path exists
indeed. That's why the SharePoint Central Administration link works but companyweb link doesn't work.

    Hope this helps.
