Exch 2007 Mgmt tools 64 bit needed for backups

    Hi,

I have bought Backup Exec 2010 + Hyper-V Agent + Exchange Agent + SQL Agent
+ SharePoint Agent. I intend to use this software to backup my SBS 2008
applications. Using the Hyper-V Agent I can backup not only the Hyper-V
guests, but also the applications running in them and restore individual
items, such as single emails, mailboxes, files, databases, etc. This saves
storage space and reduces the complexity of configuring a backup job.

However, I need the Exchange Management tools installed on the Backup Exec
server (which is the Hyper-V host) to get these backups. But I can't, can
    I. Its an SBS limitation, isn't it? Please tell me I am being stupid and I
have overlooked something. I can't believe MS will make me pay £1,000 for a
full licence of Exch Srv 2007 simply to get management tools installed on my
backup server. Please, I am in tears here.

    TIA,

    Jarryd

You can install the management tools on any workstation you like.

Re: Exch 2007 Mgmt tools 64 bit needed for backups

    Hi Cliff,

That's genius news! However, I can't work out how. First off, where do I
find the installer? It does not appear to be on the SBS 2008 installation
media. I can't find where to download it from.

Please tell me where I can obtain the installation media to install the
Exchange 2007 Standard Edition 64 bit management tools. If it is on the
DVD, please would you let me know the path. If they are available for
download, please send me the link.

    Many thanks,

    Jarryd

Re: Exch 2007 Mgmt tools 64 bit needed for backups

    Hi Jim,

I suspect all 32 bit, not doubt. It has to be the 64 bit version. Has to
be. I have googled my fingers to the bone. That said, if you really have
found a download link for Exchange 2007 Management Tools 64 bit, please send
    it.

    Thanks,

    Jarryd

I can't believe it. Download Exch 2007 SP2. That allows you to install the
mgmt tools. I figured it would say there was no Exch server to upgrade
    Cool!
