    SBS 2003 backup

    Hello,

    I have inherited an SBS 2003 (Std) installation, and when running the SBS
    backup (with default settings), the backup doesn't seem to work at the
    Exchange section. The log says:

    Backup Type: Normal

    Backup started on 5/05/2010 at 10:29 PM.
    Backup completed on 5/05/2010 at 10:29 PM.
    Directories: 4
    Files: 2
    Bytes: 21,473
    Time: 1 second
    Backup of "XXXXXX\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group"
    Backup set #4 on media #1
    Backup description: "SBS Backup created on 5/05/2010 at 8:00 PM"
    Media name: "Small Business Server Backup (05).bkf created 5/05/2010 at 8:00
    PM"

    The MDBDATA folder is about 16Gb in size, with 15 mailboxes or so, so it
    appears to either looking at the wrong store/group (there is only one) , or
    perhaps skipping over because of permissions?

    Can anyone help with where I might start looking here?

    Many thanks,

    Ashley

    Re: SBS 2003 backup

    Do you have a 'Recovery Storage Group' on the server. If so, delete the RSG
    and then run the backup again.

    You might also want to check the "Small Business Backup Script.bks" (and/or
    re-run the SBS Backup Wizard). I pulled the following from a prior post:

    ---------------------------------------------
    Using NTbackup to remove Recovery Storage Group reference from the backup
    selection script:

    1.Start -> Run -> NTBackup -> Advanced Mode -> Backup tab -> Job -> Load
    Selections.
    2.Select Small Business Backup Script.bks
    3.Click OK on the error message: "Some invalid selections found in
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Backup\Small
    Business Backup Script.bks".
    4.Job -> Save Selections.
    ---------------------------------------------
