    Outlook RPC Troubleshooting Exchange 2003

    - If this is not the correct area to post this question, please let me
know and I will head elsewhere -

I have a client with SBS2003, and several client notebooks happily
running Outlook 2003 via RPC over HTTP. One particular machine which
was also working happily with User A has been handed to User B, and no
matter what I try I can't get Outlook over the Internet to work.

As others are working OK, I believe the server side is set up
    correctly.

I have deleted and reinstalled the Security Certificate, added the RPC
registry keys under HK Local User because they did not exist where
    they should.

When I run Outlook.exe /rpcdiag the Exchange Server Connection Status
window is blank / zilch / nothing! So this must be pointing to my
problem, but what is it that is wrong when the settings in Outlook are
exactly what the guide and various articles state.

    Suggestions please?

    Jerome

I know this may sound like a obvious question
But does the new user have a new local Profile?
or are you trying to use the old users profile?

If it is a new profile.
I assume there isn't any AV or Firewall stopping things?

I also assume in IE you can go to https://mail.yourdomain.com/exchange
    and get no Certificate Warning.

Can you login with your ID and get RPC Over HTTPSto work?
If so, then Delete the users Local Profile (Not just the Outlook one)
Recreate a local profile, recreate an outlook profile and reconfigure RPC
    over HTTPS

New user with new local profile

I don't believe Trend or the Firewall are the cause, but I've not yet
tried turning them off to see

Correct: user is able to load Outlook Web Access at that URL without
    any certificate warning

OK I will try that. Will report back here when tested.

    If your Profile works
Did you add the new user, using Wizards?
Check what Security Groups that person belongs to..

Thanks for the various suggestions... the answer was oh so simple and
    everything was configured OK:
the User (and me too) were omitting the domain name\ in front of the
    users's logon name.

    Yes I am very embarrassed.

Jerome there is a link on the SBS 2003 RWW home page to the specific
instructions on how to setup Outlook over the Internet. One of the items
clearly mentioned is to use domain name\user name. I suggest you look at
that and in the future always refer to it when setting up Outlook Anywhere.
