Restore AD on a different machine 2003

    Hi all,

As I am doing a test for Disater Recovery Plan, say all servers had gone,
but I still had all the backup tapes using backup exec.
So what I would do is that:
Build a new server, install 2003 then restore system state using
    non-authoritative.
is it right process? thanks in advance,

    Regards

You won't be able to restore the system state on a different machine
unless it has the same hardware. You'll be ending up having hardware
    issues - it isn't supported anyway: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249694

What you'd need to do is fix one of the previous DCs and rebuild the
system state on one of those.

    Cheers,
    Florian

In this case, using VMs would be very beneficial.
