    Issues after FSMO Roles

I am planning to demote one of my Domain Controller servers 2003 R2 Standard
    SP2

So far I moved the 5 FSMO roles to my other domain controller and all went
    well

My problem is everytime I logon to the network with my Windows XP Pro SP3 ws
    I get this error

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: NETLOGON
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 5719
    Date: 11/5/2009
    Time: 11:20:31 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: TGKW001
    Description:
No Domain Controller is available for domain OUR due to the following:
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
    ..
Make sure that the computer is connected to the network and try again. If
the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
    Data:
    0000: 5e 00 00 c0 ^..À

Also my sql server services fail to start I am using a doamin account to
    start those services.

Am I missing a step before I demote the DC

    Any thoughts or ideas

    Thanks

    Tom

Sounds like a DNS issue. Post an ipconfig /all of the remaining DC and the
client machine, please, to better evaluate what's going on. Also, please
post any Event log errors (eventID#).

Check DNS for the old DC's references for the LdapIpAddress (the 'same as
parent), the A record, and any SRV records including the GcIpAddress entry.
Also check Sites and Services for the old DCs reference.

    Re: Issues after FSMO Roles

    Hello Thomas,

Is the other DC also DNS server and are all domain machines configured to
use it? An unedited ipconfig /all will help us to see more. Also the second
    DC must become Global catalog.

    Best regards
