Outlook Missing Component _ Vista 64

Gents,

I hope that someone out there can help me with this problem.

I am running Vista 64bit opperating system with Office 2007. I have a problem with Outlook which often closes or freezes which needs to restart. This brings up an error that says....

"This program requires a missing Windows Component" " This program requires MSVBVM50.DLL which is no longer included in this version of Windows"

I have checked for solutions online and searched the web but am unable to find anything.

Is this a common problem with Outlook and Vista 64bit? Is there a solution?

Look forward to hearing from you all.

Kind Regards

Trevor

Hi Trevor,

I see no one knows a solution for you yet. I'm not familiar with Outlook either. You might try posting a copy of this question in a Outlook Newsgroup for someone that knows more about Outlook.

See: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlook.general

Hope you get a solution soon,
Shawn

Gee. I hope I'm not the one who has played the most with Outlook on here, but if so, let me see what I can find. I'll be at my home computer in a few hours and I'll check to see if I've got that .dll and can get it to you (if that is, in fact, the problem).

Do you know what the feature is?

Also, did you install Office 2007 on there from the DVDs? It may be advantageous to either reinstall or at least repair the installation. That may help.

I've been running Office 2007 on Vista 64 for quite awhile and had no problems of that sort (I had one with some shortcuts, but nothing too intense). We can probably figure out a way to beat this one.

Okie Dokie. I think I've got something for you. msvbvm50.dll is a Microsoft Visual Basic Virtual Machine file from VB 5.0. But...

We are currently on VB 6.0 (and transitioning to .NET, or something like that). So, it should be able to run with msvbvm60.dll. So, there are a couple possibilities. You may have a problem with the install of Outlook (it may not have seen that you had msvbvm60.dll). Or, maybe there's a problem with the VB runtime files.

So, I've tried to find a link to that. Unfortunately, I can't find anything I'm convinced will work with Vista x64. You may want to start with an sfc /scannow. Reinstalling Outlook should be the best bet, since it should come with that file, if it's needed. If not, someone must be able to tell you what will work to get that file.

Hopefully that helps a bit.

Scoopster,

You can download the MSVBVM50.DLL file from here:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/pop.php?msvbvm50

Once you extracted the files to your desktop, move them to this location: C:\Windows\System32

It is a safe site. I used it several times without any problems.

Gents,

I have just got back from Holiday and would like to express my thanks at all your responses.

I have just reinstalled outlook and copied the mdll file to the desired folder. This already contained the file so i overwrote this during the copy. It could be possible that this was corrupt or maybe this is not outlooks desired path.

Will keep you alll informed on how things go.

Once again many thanks.

Gents,

My Problems have got worse! I am now experiencing further system problems! I have attributed this partly to a memory fault which has been removed from the system, now leaving 2gb. Now after all that, in most programs although not all the time!!!! When i go file open the system hangs. This happens with Word, excel, Autocad and Microstation!

To be sure to fix all my problems i am going to completly re-format the system and start fresh!!!

Its Sods law that i have been trying to solve this outlook problem for 3 - 4 months and then this happens!!!

Thanks for all your help!

Scoopster!
