Mail Program

How do I make the Windows Mail in Vista the default. Everytime I click on a link it tells me it can't open Outlook.

Thanks.

Re: Mail Program

Go to Control Panel/Programs/Default Programs/Set your default programs and set Windows Mail as your default mail client.
After that go into "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" and associate the "mailto" protocol with Windows Mail.

Re: Mail Program

Hi Barbee. Please click on these pictures for a closer look. Hope this helps!

Click the image to open in full size. Click the image to open in full size.

If yours does not look like the second picture then you can select MAIL TO and click on the button called "Change Program" and tell the "MAIL TO" to associate with "Windows Mail"

Hi Barbee,

In addition to everyone's posts, Outlook will try to make itself the default email program everytime it updates itself.

How to Add Back and Set Windows Mail Default Associations
