| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Free Software List for Vista Hi Cordialis, How do they work with Windows Mail? Usually Windows Mail is extremely sensitive to any kind of 3rd party email filter causing all sorts of problems in it. Shawn |

| Vista Home 32 next month | Re: Free Software List for Vista I can't answer that, sorry. My new Vista 32 PC is not even ready for shipping yet, - it will be weeks before I see it and I have XP Home on this antiquity. But I've been all over the net for this information. These 2 spamfilters seems to be what there is. I actually wanted a x64 but gave up and ordered a 32. I don't no if I made the right choice but I will have to live with that... |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: Free Software List for Vista Their website says it is compatible with every program, but I have a good rapport with Chris, one of the guys on the SiteHound side of FireTrust's business end (beta tested through Castle Cops) so I'll ask him and scan that beta test forum and regular forum if anyone has been having issues with MW / MW Pro and Windows mail, Brink. |

| Vista Home 32 next month | Also CA offers a 90 day free trail of their eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for Vista x64. That is actually worth mentioning but I don't know if you want it on the list. Link: CA eTrust Antivirus I forgot Spyware Terminator that is x64 Vista ready with their scanner. No real time protection yet but it is on it's way. Link: Spyware Terminator - System Requirements |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Free Software List for Vista Thank you Cordialis, Spyware Terminator has been added to the list. Since CA Antivirus was not a completely free program, it did not make the list. It is nice that they give you a 90 day trial of it though. Thank you again, Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 | Another nice app that I've been using since Win98 is Free Commander. With the named Layouts you can save setups with multiple tabs in each pane. Makes it very nice if you're very into drag & drop to move stuff around. FreeCommander - freeware file manager By default it monitors folders you have open so you can optionally run multiple instances with common folders. When you copy into one instance the folder contents is updated in the other. Just about every file manipulation tool you're likely to need is in one menu or another. the clipboard. Do you know if it integrates with Flashgot? From Firefox it just pops up and sits there. Last edited by dmex; 06-13-2008 at 01:16 PM.. |

| Vista Home 32 next month | Re: Free Software List for Vista Anything else would not make sense. I have also read a number of posts and searches in the forums belonging to these to manufacturers. There is plenty of evidence that Windows Mail runs very well and without any unusual problems with these 2 spamfilters installed. I believe it is safe to add them to your list. | Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 | Re: Free Software List for Vista For 32 bit Vista there's a nice freeware called Sandboxie. The author doesn't support 64 bit since SP1 kills off the kernel modification mechanism it uses or some such, but the free version does work well. There's a paid version with some convenience features but the free one does the actual job of running browsers, email client, etc. in a sandbox. When sandboxed apps write to the HD it is actually redirected to a folder. When you run a browser or whatnot that requires its registry settings, it reads the registry and makes a local copy inside the sandbox so that browser helpers or whatever can't write to the real registry. I find it much more convenient and less intrusive than memory resident virus shield type utilities: Sandboxie - Sandbox software for application isolation and secure Web browsing |
