Problems Receiving Mail in POP3 Client

Hello to all,

I have tried using several POP3 email clients with Vista but am having so success. I can send mail, but I can't receive it. When I try, I get a 0x800CCC92 error.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Howard

Re: Problems Receiving Mail in POP3 Client

Hi Howard,

This error message means that the incoming POP3 mail server did not accept your username or password.

You will need to verify that your email account settings are correct for the POP3 server. You can find this information on your email provider's support webpage for how to setup an email account in Outlook Express.

What antivirus program are you using? Sometimes some of these can cause problems with Windows Mail.

Re: Problems Receiving Mail in POP3 Client

Hi, Shawn,

Thanks for the suggestion. As it turns out, the problem WAS that I was entering my username wrong. I read on another site that sometimes entering your username without the rest of the address (eliminating every from the @ sign beyond) is all that is required. Indeed that did the trick for me.

Thanks for your help.
