The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running

According to the MSDN site :-
  • When a 16-bit installer or application is launched, the following error message is displayed:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
I have an application (SPFPC V4.0) which I used to run with no problem on XP SP2.
But when I try it on my Vista Business 64 bit system I get that message. I have tried all of the compatibility options with no success.

Maybe I am being simplistic, but I would think that if it runs OK on XP SP2 then it probably isn't a 16 bit application.

Any ideas anyone.

XP supports 16 bit applications, so there is no sound basis for your belief.

Its Boul****!
I have windows 7 with 64 bit operation system 8gb memory core i7! I installed Asus mother board bios and "bios updater" specially designed windows 7!
Bios updater was working perfect, later i see that i have problem with memory from 8Gb i have 3.25 available only! I try to run "bios updater" to update newer bios and my "bios updater was not working correct! I remover bios updater and reinstalled same thing again and receive message ( version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running)!
This is something wrong but it is not about 64 bit system for sure!
