It generally feels slower and when I work on larger files (183x120cm @300dpi) it's much slower than pre-sp1 on the same file size. The odd thing I have noticed is that it crashes (fades to white - not responding ) when I use the transform scale tool and when I add a Layer blending effect ( drop shadow / gradient etc ) it never did this before as it used to render it instantly.....now it takes a least 30 sec to 1 min to create and/or recover from the 'not responding' white out screen. Has anyone else found this with PS CS3 and Vista SP1? - It's very annoying especially as I had the system perfect before the SP1 upgrade. How can I fix this? any ideas Chris |

EDIT: I have tried the same operations that crash your pc with a file .psd 250mb larger and it was perfect. I also started up Indesign and created a sra3 file with no impact. (with PS still open in the bg) have you got ur prefs set up good for PS? if so, its a definite re-install job for PS |

BleepingCrazy, I'm working on large format Fine Art digital prints...They must be at print resolution which is causing a few problems as the largest is 550 x 85cm@300dpi....I'm guessing PS wasn't really designed for this kind of output but as far as I can see there are no alternatives... My prefs were the same as before....separate scratch disk and memory set to 80%. But I sometimes have the issues when working files that are 1200x800@300dpi...bleading annoying!!! The systems always recovers but I sometimes have to wait a few minutes for 'save to web' to activate too....Eh - what's that about (on a 2mb file)! A few examples on my website.. Christopher Farrell Portfolio 2008 cheers Chris |

| //global proc ayudame! () Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: Photoshop CS3 and X64 Service pack 1 try turning off UAC and restart and see if that helps? I DID have some problems with this in painter X but that worked and also make sure data execution protection is set to "system files only". if it was the UAC....there are some great tweaks over at Super Tweaks for Windows Vista by Black Viper and some great stuff here on vista64: http://www.vistax64.com/vista-news/1...lications.html |

Roll on 64bit PS CS4. Maybe that'll have better performance and vista compatibility. |
