Vista - Screensaver problems

The Deal is everytime i got to screensaver, just to try to open the screensaver menu, this pops up. "Window host process (Rundll32) has stopped working."

And somehow i think the default screensaver is set because after i leave the computer alone for a while it goes blank...

ok scratch that, instead of the screensaver coming on in say 5 to 8 mins. a blue screen pops up and say beginning dump of physical memory, but it will go away if i press a button.....wierd.

When you say it is a Blue Screen, but it goes away after you press a button, I assume you mean mouse button . key on the keyboard? If so, can you verify *what* your screen saver is actually set to?

Also, to post images, you cannot simply link to them from your HD - bad idea- using the advanced reply mechanism, near the bottom you'll see an attachments button to add attachments - this opens a new windows / tab that allows you to upload your attachment - but that is only half the picture. After doing that you need close that and then above the edit box where you have entered your post you have to use the paperclick icon to actually add the attachment to the post....

no i cant verify what its set to because it wont let me open the screensaver window.
But i never had a screensaver set to begin with so it should be on none.


yes when i press any button like a regular screensaver. mouse or keyboard.

I'd run a couple of anti virus scans then - it sounds like it could be a non malicious virus, or it could be the precursor to something more sinister....

BSODs don't just disappear like that.
