Vista - windows photo gallery

Hi there,

I just recently did a format and reinstall of Vista 64 Ultimate and i've been having a problem with windows photo gallery. If theres a bunch of new pictures on my desktop and i go to click on one it will take around 30secs to load and and when it loads it will just freeze until it loads the others.

I've never had this problem before and it only seems to happen on my desktop. If i view a new image on my other hard drives they load instantly, it just seems to happen on my windows drive.

Anyone know what causes this to happen?.

EDIT: I tried windows live photo gallery and that works fine, but i would like to have the original working as well.

What else do you have on your desktop? Any really large files, or executables?

I keep my desktop empty all the time, apart from the recycle bin. Not really sure what it could be since the live version works fine. Also theres hardly anything installed on my hard drive at the moment apart from a few apps.

well, if you have images on your Desktop, then it is scanning everything on your desktop when loading it for the first time.

I'd just not save images to your desktop in the first place, especially as there is a special folder called Pictures to use for images in the first place.

It seems to be ok now. I guess vista maybe just needed a day or two to settle after the new install?.
