Windows Live Mail in Start Menu

Hey,

I just realised at the top of my start menu when I click E-mail - Windows Live Mail, it does not open the application but rather opens up Internet Explorer and goes to hotmail.com. Is there a way to fix this error? Also, is there a way of removing Windows Mail as I use Windows Live Mail instead?

Cheers,
Joronamo.

Hey Joronamo,

Yeah you can change the defaults quite easily ;)

Open ControlPanel and click ClassicView on the left, then Open Default Programs and click Set Default Programs...From there you can change the default programs listed on the start-menu ;)

Thanks But that doesnt quite answer my question. I want to know if I can uninstall Windows Mail completly? But main problem is when I click on Live Mail at the top of the start menu, it opens up hotmail.com in net explorer instead of the actual application.

right click start menu, properties & set the email link to windows mail. Then open windows mail & when it asks you to make it the default program for email, choose yes. Now close windows mail & open up windows live mail & when it asks you to make it the default for emails, choose yes. - its how i did it

Yes, But I bet you when you open start menu properties the E-mail link link will now become blank, and then when you change it to live mail, you will get my original problem.

Joronamo,

fieseler and I have given you two ways of changing the start-menu email links, If you follow our advice you will find it does answer your question...The easiest way is via the ControlPanel> Default Programs> click Set Default Programs, Just set Live Mail as Default and it will work correctly, there will be two entrys and is for Hotmail and the other is for Liv Mail Desktop itself ;) As for Uninstalling Windows Mail you can disable a few componets however its built-in so you cant completely uninstall it :(
