DVD Decrypter doesn't have issues and neither does DVD Shrink, but neither one should be used for ripping as they haven't seen support for several years. DVDFab HD Decrypter is the only free ripper currently being updated. If you use Imgburn it doesn't matter if you have a VIDEO_TS folder or an ISO image as it will handle both types of input.

I use AoA DVD ripper. Works great, cost $40 online and they mail you a cd. I use it all the time and it's easy to learn, rips to multiple formats etc.

I would recommend DVD SHRINK also, I have had this running on my x64 vista machine with no problems what so ever for over a year now and have burnt many DVD'S with not one error, please note though that you also need to have nero installed in order for dvd shrink to work.

Hey,

I heard/tried DVDShrink on my Vista, and it doesnt work. WOuldnt let me install. I heard you have to go into the permission directory to let it work. WHat does DVDshrink actually do though, there is never a clear cut answer. Does it rip dvds into .avi files onto your computer because that is what Im after.

Cheers,
Jordan.

My Computer

you also need to have nero installed in order for dvd shrink to work.

Not true at all, DVD Shrink will auto burn with Nero, Imgburn, DVD Decrypter or 1 Click DVD Copy.

@Joronamo

DVD Shrink is a compression tool, it takes your DVD9 (dual layer DVD) and compresses it to fit on a single DVD% (Single Layer DVD). You should run DVD Shrink in compatability mode. It will only output to ISO or VIDEO_TS...no .avi for DVD Shrink.

Umm that is strange it never even installed, anyways if you want to rip DVD to avi then shrink wouldent be for you, DVD shrink allows you to do full or part backups of your DVD collection (including encrypted), it rips and encodes the iso files onto your hardrive and then boots up nero via dvd shrink to burn it to DVD. so inaffect is a DVD-DVD programme, for your needs I would tend to agree and advise dvd decryptor, have not used it a great deal but it does the job.

Ricks

Sorry My Mistake,

No problem at all, it's an easy mistake to make. :)

@Joronamo

You might want to try SUPER for converting your DVD complaint files to avi. It's a free programs with a fairly low learning curve and will convert just about anything to anything. Just curious as to why you are wanting to convert to avi in the first place though?

Hey Windbell I got aimersoft dvd ripper and its exactly what iv been after. Atm, Im backing up my entourage dvds to .avi and for some reason the conversion process gets stuck with like 2 seconds to go!! Iv retried converting the same file 5 times already and it still wont complete and crashes on 100%. Have you had these issues? If so what did you do to remedy this?

Cheers,
Joronamo.

What do you mean Permissions folder? Was planning on installing DVDShrink on 2 of my computers one is Vista and the other is Vista 64.

To run the install do I need to do anything special?
