VISTA ULTIMATE SP2
 
 

Direct 3d

I have windows vista ultimate. I want to install AutoCAD 2009, but it says I need DIRECT 3D??.. I tried searching the net for it??, can anyone point me in the right direction?. Is it DIRECT X??. I thought vista came with this installed?. I have not got SP1 installed yet. Thanks.

Hello Riptorn,

It is just referring to DirectX. Since Vista comes with DirectX 10, it is probably wanting you to also install the latest DirectX. It will not hurt anything to have them both.

Dear Brink,
Thanks, unfortunately when I try to install DirectX 9.0, I get the error message "A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted". So I cannot install it for some reason??. My cryptographic service is set to automatic in services.I have not got SP1 installed yet?, will I need to install this first??. hmmm??.. Please can you help me?.Thanks.

I would go ahead and install SP1 and the other updates to see if you can afterwards. if not, try right clicking on the DirectX installation file and click Run as administrator.

Thanks Brink.. Well.. I installed SP1, and ran the application as administrator, only to find out that it will not install.. AGAIN???.. I get the same error message??.. I am lost., any ideas??.. Please?? Thanks.

Have you already installed the latest driver version for you graphics card?

If you have then see if installing DirectX 9.0c helps.

Thanks again Brink.. My drivers for my graphics cards are updated. I still cannot install DirectX 9.0.. I have tried everything??..have done everything you have told me, but nothing works.. why??.. I am truly baffled??. I also tried the microsoft xna forums, but they have not replied back..3 days now,and still waiting. I am trying everything, but I am running out of ideas??.. hmmm this is a tough one..

This is a tough one Riptorn. You might also contact AutoCAD 2009 support to see what they may say about this issue to.
