Hi bassfisher6522....

i think speedfan will only control fans with a 4pin header from the mobo, most board headers are 3pin.

by default the only one you should be able to control with this app is the HSF

i can only control 1 fan from here, as you can see my HSF is @ 50%

OK thanks for the info, next question? How do I know what fan goes to what device? Example fan 1 is the fan for CPU. If fan 1 is for CPU how do I find this out and how do I change it in speed fan. I know more questions. Just trying to figure this app out. Thanks again.

unfortunately that's gonna be a case of trial & error, the application has to be quite flexible for compatibility between boards so there's no set layout for fan allocation....

you may be able to find a speedfan tweak guide on google, but as far as im aware its pretty random...

as you can see in my pic the HSF is on the 2nd fan slot, but i have seen other ppl running fans off different slots...

you will just have to play around with the headers on the board & see which value controls which fan...

Check the hardware monitoring in the bios and make note of any fans shown there and what it lists them as, then just match them up in Speedfan.

You can also go here,

SpeedFan Configuration Manager

and register (free) and try any of the user configurations using the same motherboard as yours.

@ skunksmash, nice to see someone using Speedfan that took the time to configure and rename the readings. :D

lol.....;)

i love speedfan...... many deem this app to be inaccurate but it differs from rig to rig, im one of the lucky ones i guess, on my rig speedfan reads the same as all other temp monitoring apps....

Click on Configure, then on each tab click on the item you want to rename and hit F2. And don't forget to uncheck any that are unused, at least as far as the fans go.

Looks like he finally made it so the temps are only reporting for sensors that are present, instead of the way it used to be and listed temps for everything the monitoring chip was capable of. Used to be lots of fun with someone new to Speedfan and they would see a temp over 100° with its litle flame beside it, and start panicking. :D

Thanks, that's what I needed. I couldn't find that info any where. I even registered w/speedfan and still couldn't find nothing. While log on to speedfan I checked to see if my mobo was fan controllable and it looks like a goose egg on mine. Damn OEM systems, well next system will be a build that I can control...

I couldn't find that info any where.

Only one thing to say, F1 ;). Probably why he doesn't have that info on his website, he included a fairly comprehensive help file in Speedfan; it can be a little on the technical side inplaces, but it is all there.
